The Case Study of Play Therapy for Children Who Separation Anxiety and a Problem of Age Relationship

Abstract
This is the case study of psychotherapy about separation anxiety and maladjusted of 6-year-old-girl who has problems on forming sound affections for a mother. The girl being brought up by her mother who has suffered from hypochondria in the past with a medicinal therapy and living in a serious discord with her husband at present, refuses to attend kindergarten and is in difficulties of making a relationship with same ages and the separation from her mother. Also she shows mostly frequent irritation and cries with a defiant attitude in her communication. So I diagnosed that the anxiety by an unstable affections for parents makes dysfunction reciprocal action withmother deepen and maladjustment of the child strengthen, and I planned a psychotherapy concentrated on the play. The child was requested to the scene of psychotherapy once a week for 50 minutes each. Through the progress of psychotherapy based on full consent and support, she expressed inadequate emotions of herself and experienced the sound affections repeatedly under the faithful relationship with a therapist. So she became to withdraw problem with decrease of negative emotions. Also consultation on object relations theory was given to the mother of the child for the formation of a stable affections for her mother and that is to make her understand the pattern and to provide a discernment into the cause of problems she has, and made it possible to withdraw emotional problem actions at andaccelerate modification of upbringing attitude. After the therapy of 14 times for the child and 8 times for her mother, the separation from a mother was performed naturally, and the problems of refusal to attend kindergarten, frequent irritation, cries and disobedience to her mother that was at issue when the therapy was requested, were eliminated. Furthermore, with the change of the child, her mother¡¯ behavior of faint and negligence for upbringing the child caused by depression becomes to weaken, and relationship between a mother and a child was changed affirmatively. Therefore, this study is aimed at presentation of the sample case and the efficient method of psychotherapy against an inadaptable behavior of a preschool child through playtherapy for a 6-year-old-girl who has an emotional behavior problem caused by unstable affectionand negative upbringing attitude of a main rearer.
